Who am I?
My name is Lina! I currently live in Liege, Belgium, but I am originally from this little bite of paradise called Martinique. I lived there my whole childhood and adolescence, until I was 19 years old, when, like most of my compatriots, I had to leave to pursue my studies.
As far back as I can remember, I have always had a passion for airplanes and travel, but without really being able to experience it. When I left to study in France to become an aeronautical engineer, I promised myself that I would explore every corner of the planet as soon as I had the chance.
I started to honor this promise, first by visiting cities in France, then its European neighbors, and this, with my small student budget. I then tackled the American continent: I lived two years in the United States, I crisscrossed the country and I took the opportunity to visit Canada and Mexico, sometimes alone, with a backpack, and always with little money.
THE GRASS IS NOT GREENER ELSEWHERE
My island, my treasure
During all these trips, I realized that no place on Earth made me feel as good as Martinique. Between sea and mountains, beaches and freshwater rivers, arid land, and lush vegetation, what a jewel this little rock is! And all this is just the cherry on a delicious cake made of strong history, a rich cultural heritage, and a warm population. There are so many things to see, discover, listen to, taste … So small and yet so rich. Martinique is full of treasures that are still too little known, even by its inhabitants.
Little by little, the desire to share this vision was born. I had to contribute to drawing the attention of the rest of the world on this island, but also on its neighbors of the archipelago, to put in the spotlight all those who take part in their development: Plume Evasion was born.
