Workshop Dancehall or Soca
Dancehall is a variant of reggae. This popular Jamaican music appeared in 1970. Artists such as Vybz Kartel, Yellowman, and Eek-a-Mouse became famous through this musical genre. The stylistic origins of dancehall are reggae, R&B, ska, rocksteady, and dub.
Dancehall dance is inspired by African steps that are enriched with hip hop movements and attitudes combining energy and sensuality.
It requires and develops physical qualities such as flexibility, strength, coordination, but also a good musical ear and feeling.
